Delight in the lord

“delight yourself in the lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.” 

psalms 37:4 

this past month this verse was really confusing me. A few girls on my team were talking about it and how the lord didn’t seem to answer and give them what they desired for so long even when they had prayed and prayed for it. i was just confused because the lord says there that he will give you the desires of your heart. today while I was listening to a podcast I had a breakthrough. the first part of the verse is “delight yourself in the lord”. you need to want god more then you want god to bless your way. I know a lot of times we stop at I need gods wisdom, I need gods direction, I need gods discernment etc. and all those things are great but, god loves a heart that just wants HIM. and when I delight myself in the lord, he promises to give me the desires of my heart. the more I say I just want you, the more my heart turns into being satisfied completely in him. And I get in him everything I have desired because he is all that I need. 

the verse isn’t delight yourself in the lord then he will give every little thing you have ever desired. because if you truly delight yourself in him , all you desire will be simply him. 

that’s something I’ve been really digging into is to be simply satisfied with jesus so that I only desire him, and everyday the lord is filling me fuller and fuller with him. my desires are shifting to only wanting Him!
